Today the world is all about online transactions and eCommerce. For any eCommerce that a business needs to carry, they must have a website which has to be impressive. Customers anyway get attracted if the content and product are good but for them to spend some time and read the content, the whole appearance of the web page is very important. The appearance majorly in terms of the colors used and designs chosen for background will be of more impact. This is the key for that first impression which holds the audience to sit and read the content.
There are four major color schemes when it is about web designs. First one is the monochromatic scheme where the base color and the hue are the same with a little variation in shades. This is usually considered as easy on the eyes no matter which color is used because usually any color picked up; the light shades are used as well.
Second is the analogous web color scheme where we take the yellow as base color and 30 degrees plus or minus hue, using the Photoshop palette. This is the scheme for those who want a colorful website appearance but one thing that needs to be ensured is, to have the colors chosen without too much in contrast because sometimes there is a possibility that they clash and create a miserable impact on eyes. Usually the colors picked here are the ones which are close to each other on the colors’ circle.
The third is the complementary color scheme. This is where people use opposite colors on the circle of colors. There are only two colors used, the base color and the opposite color. These colors are picked up easily when you are sure on the base color. In Photoshop there is an option where you choose the base color and press Ctrl I then the opposite color is automatically detected. Often people choose this scheme to symbolize something unique and different because this scheme itself is different than all the other schemes.
The last color scheme in web designing is the triadic color scheme. There are 3 colors used in this scheme. One is the base color and the remaining is spread on the same line of the color wheel / circle. Though there are only 3 colors picked up, you can change it to 4 colors as well. The only thing is that they need to be as same as the complimentary when it is about the impact on the users. If the right colors are not chosen, then the color scheme will not result in clarity.
When it is about colors to be used in creating websites, one has to understand the symbolism and importance of the colors and how they can effect the user’s mood and ultimately influence the actions taken or not taken.
